Hey Bruce- Do u change the hooks on the Zara Spook.I've gotten action but nothing stayed on.I have three sizes of spooks.Have a Zara Spook twin prop bait I'm anxious to try. Love prop baits.
I agree about the hooks on the Zara's. I like to change them out. A lot of times I'll put a new sharper treble on the front, and a new sharper single on the back.
Hmm ...a single on the back! Thanks ,maybe I'll experiment with that. What's a good hook style/make/size for the single back?
1. pop-r -ole bass

Thanks for the color preferences too Chris!
Bass colored Pop R has been good to me also.A yellow Heddon Chugger as well.

A question, are u fishing Ultra clear water?
no i fish extremely muddy to stained water
Well then I'm surprised because your color preferences, besides perhaps yellow ,are natural subtle colors. In stained water I usually choose something more striking but maybe topwater(in stained and muddy water) is'nt a as much a visible as vibrational strike for a Bass.Still I like to think my choice of color stacks the deck for me. If you have success with your choices then stick with it right?
the lakes i fish are very pressured... i wonder if that has any thing to do with it
I like fishing with black topwaters at dusk or dawn. Much better contrast for the fish to see. Believe it or not, my favorite Spook is clear, which I use in broad daylight for hybrid striped bass. It always seems to look more realistic.
Black at dusk and Dawn for me too .What color water u fish that spook in for stripers?...does it matter to you,or more importantly to the stripers , if water color is stained, muddy, clear ...and does it not determine your choice of color? My fav natural color right now is frog or coachdog... that's a stained to clear water choice for me.
