I wish you much success. Publishing is a tough business. One of the best publishing deals out there for an independent author is ebooks. I recommend Smashwords. Smashwords is the world's largest distributor of independent authors. An ebook is out there forever. A print book can disappear if the first printing does not sell well. I published an ebook this past summer through Smashwords about pet loss/grief. It has been a great experience. The other major way to epublish is through Amazon. Amazon has 70% of the ebook market. The biggest difference between Smashwords and Amazon is at Smashwords the author has full control. Many authors publish through both.
