Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

hey guys, just a quick question. When going to a new lake, pond, river, creek. where is a good place to start the search, what should I look for when on new fishing grounds? I just moved to Louisiana and Was thinking of going to a new lake, tons of floating weed beds. Should I target those with some blood worms or leeches. Just curious, and looking for any info from more experience Bluegill anglers.

thanks.

Search for bigger bluegills would be little deeper water close to any covers like weeds or woods. Cast small jig with Gulp maggot is good way to find good bluegill spot in short time. When you find good spot then try leech or small nightcrawler with slip bobber! If you catch lot of small bluegills then move to other area or fish deeper water. During spawn time, search for nests and fish little deeper water for bigger 'gills.
