White jigs with red or orange collars haven't let me down.
Perhaps subtle movements is a more important attractor though.Through the ice using a Fish TV camera I 've seen Gills get spooked and quickly swim away when the jigging was aggressive only to come back and take the bait moments later when you settle down the motion.
