Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

West Virginia Aquaculture Association Annual Forum

The West Virginia Aquaculture Association and the West Virginia University Extension Service will again be holding their annual forum next Friday and Saturday (January 16 and 17). This year it will be in Moorefield, WV. More info can be found at www.wvu.edu/~agexten/aquaculture/2009Forum/index.htm

On Friday afternoon there will be a field trip to the WVU Reymann Memorial Farm and also to the National Center for Cool and Cold Water Aquaculture. The Reymann farm is quite interesting. It uses water from the trout operation to feed a hydroponic greenhouse. The water is cold enough to allow growing cold season crops in the middle of summer.

On Saturday, I get to present a short discussion about managing ponds for big bluegill. Much of my information is based on what I've learned from Bruce Condello, Bob Lusk, Eric West, and others on this site and the Pond Boss site.

So, if you are in Virginia, Maryland, or West Virginia, we're not that far away.

Thanks,
Ken
