i probably will saturday and sunday.  supposed to storm the rest of the week.  its also supposed to be close to 70 degrees, which sure beats this cool snap.  havent been much this winter due to high water and 200k cfs that they are pulling through the dam system.

...good luck if ya get out Tracy

I'm looking forward to getting out at least once during this period.........At this time wind forecasts look favorable and I'm excited to get February started...........

...good luck Jeff! ... we've been single digits and below for over a week... crazy... upper 40' on the ice this weekend with 12" of snow on the ice... very difficult fishing...

what's your target?

Thanks Slip......I've seen the weather you guys have endured.............Wow!...........we've only had a couple little spurts of polar air in coastal North Carolina.........high winds and rain on many weekends but we have worked through and got out to fish several times this winter...I rode through a short patch of skim ice this morning for the first time this winter.....Ground hog is only right 18 percent of the time and he claimed early spring........fingers crossed!  The new moon didn't disappoint today as the fish were very active.......I was solo today and quickly put a 30 fish creel together for sunfish which was mainly fliers........that took a little over an hour.......I culled out seven fish and that gave me the thirty I wanted for the fish fry.........fished for another hour and caught another fourteen fliers and seven gills..........the small 1/64th ounce jig would take several seconds to settle out near bottom in ten feet and the fish were waiting.......the takes came quickly after the bait reached depth in most cases.......but all in all a fun day to fish

Hey Guys

I will be out Sunday here in Wisconsin when it goes to 43degrees like there calling for vrs -27 below like Wednesday. There also calling for a little rain but will bring portable Otter and enjoy the 70-degree increase! The new moon out and a nice warm day for ice fishing should be a treat!

...sounds great! good luck out there!

Also from Wisconsin...But looking to build pond down south to retire to.  Just can't ice-fish like I use to...

I'm planning on heading out.  Was originally planning on this afternoon, to let it warm up a bit (I don't have a shanty), and maybe fish into the night.  However, looking at the charts Slip posted, I may head out NOW to catch the afternoon Major period.

...glad to see you breaking in that sonar Allen

I know I mentioned this on my FB post, but thought I'd mention it here so that other folks can read it as well.

I had some issues reading my jigs at first.  Realized I hadn't adjusted the length of the cable from the float to the transducer, and it wasn't down below the ice.  Once I gave it a little more slack, it read my jigs, and fish, fine.  In fact, it was also giving a very faint return on the size 18 Zebra Midge (which has a brass bead for weight) above the main jig, exactly as I tied it on.

...then the fish are easily recognizable... my eyes under the water...hate fishing without it
