Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Got the new Feather Craft catalog today. There, on the back page is a "super" deal on Rio fly line... $89.95, before shipping.
Now I don't know about you, but the best part of $100 for one roll of fly line is just not in the budget.
Someone is buying it, I'm sure, and I suppose some will say, "You get what you pay for." They always do.
But, now I'm afraid to open the catalogue, for fear of a heart attack. Leo Nguyen and Dick Tabbert warned me about this fly fishing stuff... I'm listening now.
I KNEW I shoulda gone to dental school (hahaha!)

David, I got mine a couple days ago.

Honestly, the only thing I would think about ordering are furled leaders; everything else it WAY overpriced.  Besides, I have a local friend that makes furled leaders.  Heck, I'm thinking about making a leader jig so I can make my own.

I've got the instructions for making a leader jig, myself. I'm not really there, yet.
But I am glad I'm not the only guy with a case of sticker shock.

Remember, just like that obscene sport, GOLF, "elitism" runs rampant through fly-fishing.  Gotta have the right waders, the right vest, can only be truly considered "fly fishing" if you're casting dry flies upstream to rising trout, etc.  So, to keep the unwashed masses away from a Gentleman's Sport, they keep the prices sky-high.

HOW RIGHT YOU ARE ALLEN !!!!!!!!!!!!! I'LL CALL EM AS I SEEM EM ALLEN " SNOBS" some of em anyway ...........

"unwashed masses..." that reminds me, its Saturday night.

Hahahahaah!

I've see that elitism before on the stream ,and have a memorable anecdote ,but those are traps that I don't relate to  . I just want to catch fish .

Thanks Mike. Welcome to the ranks of the unwashed....

I the Feather Craft Christmas catalog yesterday, and well........  It had some real nice items in it, but I don't know if I could ever be good enough all year for Santa to buy me anything from it. I think he would say " you better stick with Hobby Lobby and Academy Sports, Vince".

I got mine as well.  A lot of nice stuff in there, but, like you, out of my league.

Fellas I guess we gotta admit it - we just aint cut out for the khaki crowd.

YOU ARE MY KIND OF GUY MIKE "SEMPER FI"

I don't know if elitism really exists among fly anglers, today, but it appears so. If nothing, an economic gulf is there... 100$ for fly line?
