Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I am going to be fishing my first river/stream and I would appreciate any advice. It's the 'Kouga River'. While in South Africa you would call river, to others it would be nothing more than a stream.

Do BG live in faster flowing streams?

Any tips on where and how to fish, would be appreciated!

Thanks!

LOOK FOR QUIET WATER MATHEW......... EVEN BIG FISH LOOK FOR CURRENT BREAKS to get outta the current for a break. Look behind big bolders or any obstruction that breaks the fast flow , these are usually called back eddy's and provide a haven from the current. Also look for the deepest pool cause water flow will slow some there also.. Hope it helps a little bit for ya buddy.....

Mathew; tooty is right !! fish the eddy;s  and deep pools!  if you see shade trees hanging over the water; that's another good place.  any snags; wood jams; brush piles; are also good choices
