Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Would it be safe to say you could catch Bluegill in a fairly shallow pond with spoons? I was thinking about using a kayak and fishing the deepest part of the pond say 10 or 12 feet deep. Iwas going to try Blue Fox Flash  or Kastmaster 1/12 oz spoons. Being new to spooning, what technique do i use? Do i drop it straight down to bottom and lift up and down?

Thanks

Rig the spoons with the single hook....tip them with wax worms or small plastics....cast them out...retrieve them slowly, with occasional twitch and pause.
You should do fine with those 1/12th-1/16th oz spoons at those depths and shallower .My choices for tipping are mealworms and crawler pieces.I use a lift and drop often with success but the swimming action also works well at times.Fish mood will determine how they want it and what retreive keeps it in the strike zone for the longest period.
Keep a diary of water color and color choices till the success rates improve.
You have to determine if the fish are close to bottom or suspended so counting down is a must.Work the entire column. Let us know how it works out .
Bill is right...this is a horizontal, rather than a straight vertical, presentation. I have done quite well in shallow ponds with Bills techniques outlined in his 'spoonchuckers' group. Check 'em out!

It always pays to back and look at what you wrote this is one of the pic I wanted you to look at. They look like they ought to work great in the conditions you are talking about.
So its more horizontal than vertical? I thought there was hardly any casting envolved. I will give it a shot.
Thanks guys!
The lift and drop I use is horizontal after a cast I didnt mean vertical jigging . Wasn't sure I was clear about that.
Thanks John!
