cant help myself... I have to make a few casts

20151213- as i looked on Google Earth something bugged me...

concerning with an area within casting distance from shore that needed to be searched with a slip bobber and bait... a short walk later and several casts later revealed an abscence of the gill. its been a tough time shorefishing from this area... this spot has produced historically through the years. yet very little gillage this open water season. i probed the weediest area of this location... nothing. i was counting on the fall crappie bite from this location also and it failed to produce. that's what makes fishing the great sport it is .... the probability/improbability factor no matter how well you think you have em figured out there's always that chance your not going to score... sure your chances are better from a tube , kayak or the boat with electronics. today the game was played on a more level playing field a time of lake and winter transition ... one on one with the fish and its environment. and I got blanked. sure it was a half hour forty five minutes tops.... in that time I felt confident I could produce a fish... it didn't happen today.

20151214- ...------<")))))><(

low 60's and significant rain last night brought the water temps up to upr 40's at Wixom Lake.

Bear Creek is up in level also.

nice pics from my scouting walk ...

hundreds of geese...

20151220- ...------<")))))><(

20151220- thought we could sneek a boat outing in today by breaking through skim ice

after last nites lows of 17 degs... this lake however proved that 3/4 inches was a tough way to go. its teaser ice ... it will be gone by tomorrow or tuesday at the latest. if it was just 1/4 or or so we would of broke thru and fished a deep basin vertical jigging but that didnt happen.

1220151405a - Nestor Lake 3/4" of teaser ice

hey... we tried!

20151221- ...------<")))))><(

the last fishing outing of 2015 due to weather and lake transition to hard water. the panfish on micro UL spinning gear with 2-4# test superlines continues tagging the preds... Panfish and Preds on the same tackle pattern put me over the top of last years season!
