20150817- … back in the kayak fishing the skinny water found temps in the mid 80’s with very few fish to target in the area… obviously they vacated and went deeper during this hot spell. Deeper edges found some crappie hitting the Jelly Jig about 12 in number all around the 10” mark…. Sloooowww bite!!!

question is "Where did all the B'Gill go?"

20150818-todays plan started out as a wading fly fishing session in the skinny water… but my spine would not let that happen today. So I fiddled with some of my rigs especially the rig throwing the ice braid of 2-0# test. I stepped that up from 4-6’ spinning rod to a 5-6’ spinning rod and this needed to be tested. I took a short walk to Wixom lake and pitched jigs along the heavy weed edges. Bingo! A few short crappies from 9-11” still a nice showing for the middle of the day and just a few short minutes!

hey slip stinker;; i also very much enjoyed our phone conversation yesterday.  yes sir;; being able to talk to 2 company reps from Lowrance;; helped a lot; definitly going to get that elite 5 chirp.  and;; the best part is;; buying one now;; before Nov. 1st. you get the chip;; FREE!!!  ordinarly you have to pay at least 100 dollars or more to get it;;  and;;  you have a choice;; of either being able to download all 48 states;; or;; just the northeren states;; or the more glamourous;; famous  SOUTH !! ( who ever heard of retiring;; and moving; NORTH ??? )  and;;  from what the company reps said;; between a gen 7 type; elite 5 type; or those much smaller models that might fit a kayak;;; only difference is-- the size of the screen-- all electronics are the same !!  you just pay more; for a larger screen.  the 2 model depth finders i have now;; they dont make them any more;; great units both;; but my grey scale one;; well;; when sunlight hits the screen;; everything dissapears !  had thought of selling it;; but have another idea for the grey scale;;  mount the transducer; on a pvc pipe;; and make a  ( side image)  or;; dip into a  tree brush pile;; etc. etc.  might make a difference like that !!   (  always heard of yankee inguinity;; now I know where it comes from;;  us guys from the south !!!!!))))   LOL !!!!!!!!!!

I would retire and move further north!

It's ingenuity.....see, us Yankees did invent the thing!!!! Ha!! Gotcha!

hahahahahahhahaa;; Tony !!!

hoping you get better slip stinker;; as you know;; i generally always use a fly rod;; i bet i havent used a spinning rod;; 5 times in the last 4 years !!

i just hope i dont have to soon give up fishing because of it...

20150819-i would like to try fly fishing while wading the flats today... even just a few casts. practiced on the lawn yesterday and my arm got about a good 20 mins before it really started bothering me.

20150819  - went for a walk to the bridge... the surface water is totally trashed from eel grass harvesting. weed clippings covering entire surface... making a cast and retrieve was impossible.
