Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I got myself in a little project and thought back to a time growing up  when I was listening to the old timers and what they liked to use to catch the big bluegill, cockroaches, catalpha worm, red worms, crickets , and the wasp larva from a wasp nest. The wasp larva  is what brought all these memories back, I was at the Crappy Cabin yesterday and found hat some hornets had decided to attach it's nest to one of the campers we have there, and since I'm going back up there tomorrow and evict those hornets I might as well make the best out of the situation and see if I can harvest some hornet larva without too much personal risk. This is going to be a challenge   since they wont approve what I am doing and they outnumber me. If wasp larva is susposed to be so good , hornet larva should be great. I'll let you know how my research turns out. I'm including a photo of the hornets nest, look to the bottom left of the front window, it's bigger than a football.   I also heard the other day of someone catching bluegill on watermelon seeds. Let me know if you have heard of some crazy old skool baits.          LOFR
