Hey, why not?

Thats what I think I was MURDERING them with just little pieces of hotdog ... so with some visual added to the smell and I shouldnt lose the hotdog meat so much should be good I would think?

Hmm.. Points well taken sir...

Like the idea but wonder if a Slim Jim would work.

Joe

What you got there is a method feeder. Big in the UK  for Carp and rough fishing. I would make this in PVC and use a snap top. This way you could mince the hotdog and let it float out the holes. This would attract gills to the area. I've used hotdog for the last two year. I use a #8 Aberdeen with 2# test on a 9 foot crappie pole.  A dollar store  package will keep me fishing for about 3-4 trips. Don't know too many baits that will let you fish for 33 cents a trip.

JDA

cheap enough eh?

good observation Joe, on the method feeder. You could also just chum. the water in a likely spot. I tried doing this with a medicine bottle, although drilling the holes in it was a challenge. The method feeder does keep the bait or attractant in a concentrated area. It is a good idea either way

good info there.. I guess I was mainly thinking I could keep the bait longer AND entice even more with the lure aspect.. but was all just a idea lol

Ideas are powerful. Your one idea sparked about 4 different product improvements by three people in three days.  Hope you keep at the project and incorporate some of the suggestions. No one has developed a method feeding system for U.S. Anglers.

Dave

Like the idea. I would use bread crumbs but instead of a medicine bottle, how about a PVA bag. This way the bag dissolves and instant clum cloud.

Try it, you never knew.
I've used fish flavored cat food. I dampen it and pack it into the perforated medicine bottle. Some years ago, I tried this with 35 mm film bottles.
Rigging is done with the feeder on a three way swivel, drop shot. style. This let's the chum cloud fan out in the water.
The other way is with bottle rigged like a common method Feeder, or as a slip rig with the feeder bottle wired to a sinker.
I haven't messed with these in years, but it might be worth hauling the idea back out of mothballs.
