Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Trico Poly Yarn Spinner, size 20.

The funny thing is, I think I've seen a Trico hatch below Keystone Dam.  Might have been some PMD's.  Whatever they were, the body was about half as big as the fly I just tied.  Not sure if I'm up to attempting a size 32.......

My tying bench is a mess so when I drop a fly it's just as good as gone but I have a pair of rattle snake eggs which are pretty much really powerful magnets that I sweep the floor with, normally find a few hooks that I didn't know were missing. :)

Lots of stuff headed your way, enjoy!

Thank you!

Wow, those look great. I don't know how you do it, the smallest I tie now is a 16. I don't tie that small but a few times a year.........favorites are 10's and 12's.  For me, it's not just hard to see a size 20..........even harder to tie a fly on that size and have it come out looking like it is supposed to........(my hat's off to ya)...........Don in SC

Donald, I completely agree with you!  My Wooly Buggers are size 8, and most other flies are 10's or 12's.  I'm only doing the 20's for a "Beginners Swap" on another board.  I may not even need to do any that small; most beginners won't touch a size 20.....I'm waiting on word from the Swapmeister.

guys-- I found a couple of magnetic bowls  for nuts and bolts  at a retail store some time ago.  works fantastic for hooks!!  I usually add  the bead heads to the hooks; drop them in the bowl;; they stay put till I need them!!  and I also have a extendable magnetic;; for the occasion when I drop one to!!
