Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Anyone else ever try earwigs aka pincer bugs for bluegill bait. Am asking because today I had one crawling on my neck while fishing, so I grab it tipped it on my adam fly and a small gill took it pretty fast compared to the adam alone.  Crickets just seem to drown so fast. While earwigs wiggle a lot and take forever to drown. Plus there even more common then crickets. Although they are kinda small compared to crickets if size matters to bluegills?

Crickets do bite but I have never had one bite hard enough to make a difference.  Did one bite Jeff?
hello from lake okeechobee.
we have caught many with crickets dead or alive. yes some will bite but they sure dont hurt.
could anyone tell me some good artificial bait to use for big blue gills?
Try a skirted 1/8 oz jig with a meal worm threaded on the hook and inside the jig skirt.  Also walk the bank and throw the smallest kastmaster on 2 or 4 lb test.  It works for bluegill and bass.
If they will roll up into a ball you could use them for BB shot weights  LOL
