Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Just thought I would let everyone know  the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has designated from Noon ,Friday June 10 until midnight ,Sunday June 12 to be "Free Fishing Weekend" , residents and nonresidents may fish in the waters of Arkansas without fishing licence or trout permits needed.  So if you want a big Arkansas Bluegill or maybe a Giant White River Trout , this weekend is for you.

my trout came from the white river when i lived in Arkansas
What a fish! Ark also holds the record for the largest Walleye too.
really didnt know that..but yeah i also got a 12 pound rainbow but got greedy wanted a bigger one so no mount..lol
The best I have ever done on the White was I caught 5  german browns ,each weighed a little over 5 lbs each in two days of fishing,   no giant trophys but it was still a great trip.

I was about to say that Tennessee held the record but I see that has recently been disallowed. My point, however, is that I would have guessed that the record would have come from one of the northern states like Minn. or Wisconsin or Ohio since the Walleye is such a popular fish up there.

Ark. and Tn. are apparently great walleye states. Southern states hold a lot of records becasue of a longer growing season, but I never understood why Yellow Perch don't get very big here. Wish they did because they sure are tasty. We have decent size white perch but not the yellow. South Carolina recently delisted the white perch as a game fish because so prolific they are threatening other species. There is no limit on them now.

Go figure.
