Do you love big bluegill?
Hello all! I am new to the site and have really enjoyed looking at the discussions and all the pics of great gills. I am in Indiana and was just wondering if there were any other Hoosiers on this site? Most of the big gills I have come across here in Indiana don't really compare to many of the gills I see here. I am assuming much of that has to do with geography in growing seasons, management, etc.... I do a decent job of getting gills here in Indiana and I can get some good ones too, but on the average for me a "good" gill is pushing 9 inches. I know there are bigger ones there and Im focusing my efforts this coming year on trying to increase that. Just wondering if anyone here is in Indiana. Thanks for the great site! Tight Lines and Screamin Drags to Ya!!!!!!!

I'm from the Jeffersonville area, directly across the river from Louisville. I actually went to Ball U. in Muncie, I fished Prarie Creek Res. during my days up there but didn't catch anything. I fish all across Southern Indiana, from Dogwood Lake clear back over to Hardy Lake and all points in between. I chase big redears and tend to catch a few nice gills while soaking the bait on bottom. My best big bluegill lake also happens to be my best big redear lake but man it's a fickle lake with gin clear water...I like to hit it after a good rain and it's a little murkier.
welcome to the site. i'm near morgantown. our state has many fair to good 'gill waters. i have not fished too close to fort w area, but many of the natural lakes of the ne part of the state are good bets. another top pick is the strip pits of the linton/duggar greene/sullivan state forest (sw indiana) area---you'll need weeks to try 'em all----would be a good vacation with a small boat/canoe/yak or float tube. if you can get access to some private ponds near the ohio river, you can find a trophy. and there are more---just get out there.
