Am digging one as we speak. Hope to have it dug before the snow flies so I can get it stocked with gills before ice in. When completed, it will be just about an acre. It is an excavated pond and I am in the water table so I won't be relying on rain to fill it. Looking forward to being able to catch gills and bass in my own pond...... Yea!!!!!!!!
Hi all,
I have seen ads that tout Birchwood WI as the "Bluegill Capital of the World" ! !
Any truth to that? I am thinking about maybe taking my bride up there this summer for a few days. Would sure like to hear about where to stay and which lake is real good! OR, tell me about any other bluegill "hotspots" that are in the midwest... Thanks..... John
Thanks Mark, I will look forward to hearing from you...It is starting to seem like spring is really going to come..... In fact, with all the fishing shows coming up, I am sure spring is going to come... Have a great week Mark...
Ya my friend Don Davison had to come over in his float tube and help me land the Bass. I will check and see if I have a pic of the fish on my page. Look for Don holding the Bass while he is in his float tube. Check out the bass I caught this summer on my 7wt Kiwi rod with a leech immitation. I am real proud of that one.
Hey John ya its a 1 wt G Loomis. I caught a 5lb bass on this rod last summer. Well I think it was 5lbs. I catch and release. Anyway it was quit a strugle getting it in. My good friend Don Davison built the rod. After trying his 2 wt 9foot Three Rivers rod that he made I am thinking about asking him to make me one.
