Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Due to new fishing regulations in Canada, we are looking for a new lake for our yearly fishing trip in June. We are use to smaller lakes, 2000 acres and under that provides good bluegill fishing. We would like to visit Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri or Arkansas. Can anyone offer recommendations for lake and possibly cabin rentals.

Reelfoot lake is great for bluegills, crappie, catfish, and bass as well. check out reelfootlake.com...or reelfoot.com. cabin and lake info on these sites!

Harry, if you like fishing much smaller waters, as in small lakes and ponds, I manage several in middle Tennessee and will begin offering guided trips on some of them this year. There's a six-acre lake in which the bluegill averaged 9" last year and will average 9.5-10" this year; the shellcracker (redear sunfish) averaged 11" last year and should average close to 12" this year. I also have a four-acre lake with hybrid bluegill that should average a pound or better this year, and a few smaller ponds from 1 to 2 acres that also should produce some good bluegill.

Hi Harry, if your looking for a place in Tenn look at Reelfoot lake in western Tn. Good fishing and lots of cabins, or in Arkansas, try Lake Conway,Millwood in the SW part of the state, or Merisack Lake off the Arkansas River or if you want trout and smallmouth also theres Bull Shoals, White River, and the Buffalo

Im going to KY lake this spring! Ive never been. My uncle has been making the trip every year for several years now and Im going to hop on the buss and role out with them this time. This will actually be my first real road trip to go fishing. Glad its with him. Nothing like having an experienced guide in the boat!

Thanks for the reply. While regulations have changed in Canada, entering and leaving Canada was a nightmare last year. Just want to get to our fishing spot and relax. We fished KY Lake 10 years ago and did well. While we were looking for a smaller lake, we may end back at Ky Lake. By the way, great pictures of your fish!!

I think you would enjoy Kentucky Lake.
I fished it one spring. Lots of bluegill and cabins a-plenty.
So sad about losing Canada. I've been there many fishing trips. Never again though. With the new travel tax (passport), Canada is just another of many fond memories.
