PATTERN-RIGGING-PRESENTATION for Bluegill

So you had a great day on the water… you caught many gills or sunfish and you had a specific rigging and a presentation you made to nail em. You are one proud angler! Share that information with us. Describe the conditions the rod, reel and line and how you presented the bait to them. Start a discussion and post pictures of the event. We are interested and that’s why we are here. No rigging is to simple or complex. Some days simpler is better. We are all varied in our skills as bluegill fisherman from the novice to the masters. Even if it’s just sharing your favorite rod, reel and line combination… anglers ask for this information all the time! We could all learn something new.

  • Slip/Float/Fly/Waxie Set-up

Here’s a little set-up I want to share that has been causing some excitement for me with the shallow gill lately. It’s a set-up that is not new and was learned when I was just a young lad from two fishermen I loved very much… my Dad and Uncle Clare. They used to put flies tipped with worms behind…

  • Fishing "Between The Docks" a forgotten Summer Pattern for Panfish

I'd like to provide some detail on a method of fishing I used quite a bit this summer period.  I didn't invent it or make this method up.  I just feel nowadays it's largely ignored and may need some RE introduction into a fisherman's quiver of methods as it did mine. Growing up on a lake in the…

  • FISHING THE THERMOCLINE BREAK

Just thought I’d share one of my trophy/Lunker presentations for the hot summer periods. Its fishing the thermocline break with the drop shot. At most periods or times of the year big fish have access to the whole area of the lake shallow or the deepest region. When the thermocline develops during…

  • Working the Lil Minnow Rig

The Need:for the past few years, one of my favorite techniques is Long Casting the UL swim jigs… usually along/parallel to shorelines and inner/outer weed lines as well as open water. I've been very satisfied with the tags on this technique… going small on UL equipment with thin super lines has…

  • Mini Wacky Worm Rig

I'd like to share a rig that I started using this summer for panfish in a nearby canal. In the spring and early summer sunfish are readily caught by casting twisters and tubes on a 1/16 oz jig. When the temps get hot, the bite slows down quite a bit. I've tried small flies under a float with some…
