Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

What knots do you consider to be  good knots? strength wise, in ease of tying, etc.

Some lures, such as jigs, do better tied with a loop knot.  Do you have a do-all knot that you chose?

Do the types of water structure you fish cause you to change your line size?

I think trilene is a good product, the 2 or 4 # xl is what I use the most. Shimano is my staple rod my favorite is a 6' rated for 1-4 lb test and I've taken fish up to 3/4 lb with no problems using the 4 lb line.  Paired with a reel that has a decent drag system, it can be a tussle.
i like to use the improved clinch knot also.  i use 4lb original stern and i have found that if you don't improve it or it will slip.

I use the Trilene knot for almost all terminal connections. It is really just an Improved Clinch knot, with a doubled eye wrap. Studies indicate it has a 97% breaking strength factor - the highest. Where the eye is too small for a double wrap, I use the Improved Clinch knot. It has slightly less strength.

I also use the Blood knot and the for making dropper loops and the Surgeons Loop knot for making loops in leader ends. For tying the line to leaders, I go with the Surgeons knot. I've messed around with the Albright, but I prefer the Surgeon's.

There are a few others I think of as special use knots, like the Snell and Arbor knots, but I'm not really adept at tying them.

When it comes to hooks... Palomar is the only way to go IMO... much stronger than the improved clinch and vey easy to tie. Use lots of spit and draw down slowly... when you tie any knot...

Hi new to group but not ultrahigh, been fishing it for over 40 years. Started with fly rod & small spinning reel. Enjoy the action that ultrahigh gives.

Interesting knot & video. Will try it today.

Thanks

when using braid Palomar knot is the way to go
