Ice has been gone for over a week here in the Mason-Dixon region and cold fronts are hampering any open water efforts. My son and I did the Brunner Island gig on the Susky on Pres Day and he got a pair of 17 in smallies on a Rapala DT-10 along with a 20 in walleye and a 22 in white sucker that actually struck the crankbait. Did okay at Deep Creek Lake on Feb 2 and 3 with 35 yellow perch and 4 legal walleyes in a day and a half of fishing. My buddy Ron did better late in the month and had several trips to DCL with 20 to as many as 50 perch in a days outing. We got a bunch of fish just shy of 14 in, but Ron had quite a few perch in the 15 in range, two pound class, true trophy yellow perch. Lookin forward to gills and crappies...
