Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hey to anyone with in 4 hours of Maryland and who love Pickerel fishing... Let me assure you Loch Raven Reservoir is your holy land!  In MD we mainly fish Loch Raven for other species like Bass.  However,on any day you almost certainly catch more healthy 2-3 pound Pickerel.

These fish appear to be extreme visual predators and anything moving with a flutter they smash!  I truly recommend trying this lake if you are a Pickerel hunter!

Check out my page in 2011 or 12 I caught a 6 pounder on power worm

Hey Andre, how is the fishing going down in Maryland?

@Gary
Remains excellent. I've been doing tournaments for the FLW and TBF. Had a 3rd place in a TBF I was happy for! Another tournament this weekend.

LOCH RAVEN STILL remains the best pickerel destination I can imagine! Numbers and size of pickerel are consistent! There's not a specific lure just find clear water and throw a moving bait natural color or white. Very visual predators they appear to be
Also by FLW I meant BFL their local stuff

The pickerel are heating up here in NJ. Lots of action while looking for those trophy LMBs. My most successful bait has been my little 4" .Keitech 4in. Easy Shiner. The bass and pickerel love them. With a dip in JJ's Magic they hit the shiners with a passion.

All fine Pickerel Gary ,good work!

 I've used the Keitech Easy Shiner and Swing Impacts for Smallmouths but never for Pickerel .First time I heard about Keitechs was at a bait shop on the Delaware River .Four of us were catching our dinners on the Swing impacts from canoes. I like those mushroom head jigs you're using ! BTW,Keitech has a live impact worm also .I haven't tried it but I'll bet the smallmouths will like them .
