Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

For 16th oz spoon chucking I am using a Daiwa Spinmatic 500 T or a Spinmatic Z 500T reel on a 5'6" Shimano Sensilite rod.The rod is rated for 1-4 lb. test.I'm using 4 lb test. This is the same set up I use for small trout streams but will most often go to 2 lb test for that application. What are you guys using?

I use a pair of 7'6" Cabelas HML medium light graphite rods, coupled with Pflueger supreme 8035MG reels, spooled with 1/4lb and 2/6lb Fireline.....this combo runs approx $270 and handles spoons from 1/16 to 1/2 oz
I use an 7'6" Easy Touch Cabelas Rod w/a Pflueger President Reel for slip floating gills and will have to try it for spooning. I have to admit I havent really tried for Gills deeper than 10-12 feet.Usually 3-8 ft.Much of an advantage to longer rods?
I have a Medium Light Cabela's Tourny Trail IM7 6'6". Not real sure what reel I have on there..... the reel is spooled with 8lb PowerPro green. If I've got a spoon on, you know I'm hunting big gills. 9" or bigger. the rod is light enough that even on small gills it's a lot of fun, but has the backbone to handle Frankengill, 17" bass, and the average Nebraska walleye.
I've just started fishing with the small size ,new Pflueger ARBOR reel (very big diameter spool) which allows superb casting distance with my preferred 4# test Ande Tournament line. The drag is great, too -the other day while fishing a 1 1/4" microspoon( about 1/25 oz) for bluegill, I hooked and landed my biggest ever carp (no picture ,so hard to convince anybody that as I ogled his length right at my feet prior to release that a YARDSTICK wouldn't have even nearly measured him!).
