Spent 2.5 hours out on a Madison lake on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week fishing gills with old friends who know what's what with gills hunting. Tuesday I nailed my first dandy gill on a Swedish Pimple tipped with a bit of crawler but that was pretty much it for the spoonin' thang. We took home 17 gills averaging around 7 1/2" with all but one coming from our conventional approach. It was slow fishing on Tuesday so I kept 2 rods in the water with my conventional approach while working a spoon with the 3rd rod. Did the same on Wednesday but this time we put 50 gills in the cooler averaging over 7.5" with many in the 9" range. On that day, not one hit on any of the 4 different color combo's of the 1/16 oz. rfs. This the place I'd like to Mod this weekend however. I know there are big gills in this area but need the Spoonmaster to show me what I'm doing wrong! Let's hope the weather holds! Bob
