Know what you mean Ben. No way my wife would ever get in a float tube. She has always said nothing smaller than the Queen Mary! But after all these years, I finally got her into a kayak. She was nervous at first, but she got the hang of it. She won't admit it to me but I think she really enjoyed going out in the kayak. Asked the other day when are "WE" are going again. I guess the old saying, "be careful what you ask for"!
I could fish farther, fake a cramp and ask for a tow......help her pick out the Yak that she wants(read I might want to use it too) hmmmmmm, sound like I might be onto something. besides I was getting tired of my bologna and cheese sandwiches for lunch.
I use dual blatter one man pontoon boats and it is my wife's favorite thing to do. I use mine mostly on trout rivers, but when she tires of fishing, she will float down river, take pictures, read a book or perhaps fix lunch. You can't tip them over and don't have to put your feet in the waters since you use oars. I can load the frames on top of my car and everything else fits in the trunk. It is like floating in a lawnchair. The perfect one man boat and the 6 footer is very light weight. My wife can carry her own. Check out www.dryflyfloatboats.com
I took my wife float tubing with me the first time she got blown away, Irvine lake wind high and white caps on the water. See weight just about a buck and when I got here in that water off she went right into the rental boats.
But to my suprize she wanted to try again, on our honeymoon none the less. What a gal, I have not had her out recently, maybe one day in the future again.
