Been seeing adds and articles on new flies. NOT tied onto hook. Tied onto plastic tube that attaches to leader, several inches above the terminal end where the hook is. Still at the head scratching stage here, yeah, kinda makes sense, but maybe less efficient for small fish ? Any one here try them for Bluegills yet ? steve b(wish I could remember name !)
They are featured in the FlyFish America '09 Gear Issue. Which I left at work fri night ! Its a variation of a tube fly. Special leader involved where the tube fly attaches above the terminal end of the leader. The bare hook is at the end. When you ste the hook, a barbless circle hook, the fly pulls free of the mouth, the hook then slides into and hooks up from the far side, into the outside of the mouth. Some may consider this to be a type of snagging maybe ? steve b
OK, tube flies not new. This is new. Yes fly is tied onto a tube, but the hook is not snugged up into it while fishing. The hook is attached up the leader several inches. moffittangling.com Try that. steve b
