Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

(Talking under $500) Just wondering what everyone thinks might be a great fishing camera and also curious as to what everyone uses to take that "fish photo of a lifetime". Wife and I managed to capsize our canoe in Mid-November 2008 and need to get a top quality, yet affordable fishing camera (preferably waterproof) for the 2009 season that can take some great pics as well! Thanks again for everyone's opinion on this!! So many of you take terrific close up fish pics that are really amazing!!!

Waterproof.... I don't know!

I have Canon PowerShot A540 and I like it very much! Lot of pictures for me. Easy to set up self camera when I go out to fish myself. I alway put my digital camera in waterproof sealed plasticbag when I am in Kayak or boat.

I am still search for waterproof PLUS self camera remote for better pictures! Set up camera in good position on kayak or boat then all you do is to use self camera remote for take pictures. It would be good for big fish like big bluegills or muskies back to water quickier!
I have and use a Olympus 1030 SW it is a great camera, lots of great features.
I take all my pics here on bigbluegill.com with this camera. not the best camera in the world but i get some pretty nice pics. looks at my pics I have a few under water shots.
The Olympus Stylus 850 SW 8.0 megapixel....or the 1050 SW 10.0 megapixel...This camera is shockproof from 5ft, waterproof to 10ft and freezeproof to 14 deg....runs from $180-$310 and shoots video above and below the waterline!
Thanks again everybody for all the helpful info!!!!
Double zip lock freezer bag.
I also dump a canoe once in awhile, however on a canoe I plan on getting wet so anything I want dry (camera, phone, wallet/money clip) goes into a pair of zip lock freezer bags, 1 inside of the other. I get them in bulk at Sam's Club and then use and reuse till they are trashed.
After dumping in a 37 degree lake, I started keeping the cell phone in my vest pocket just in case. (wish I could find that pic of me baling the canoe with a knee boot)
