Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

The most important thing you can do to catch a nice mess of Bluegills.

Okay.....I'm curious, and would like to get everyone's thoughts on this....

What do you think is the single most important thing you can do to improve your odds of catching nice Bluegills consistently? ONE THING.....any aspect of BG fishing, but only one item per person...what do you hold critical to success above all else????

I know what I think, now I want to know what YOU think................

I"m no expert, but has worked for me in the past has been switching colors of the same bait. This seems to change daily , the color preference that gills have , from one day to the next.........

LEARN your water so you can adjust to different weather conditions. Consistency comes from putting in the time on a particular body of water.

Fish where the big ones are.  An angler can have perfect knowledge and presentation, but if he's on water that doesn't harbor large bluegill, he won't catch large bluegill.

Very light lines seem to work in creating a proper presentation of the bait.

Tip your jig. It doesn't always help. But it never hurts.

That is SIMPLE, GO EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Jeff on this one "know your water" you gotta keep your line wet to know it.

TIME put in would be the most important thing. Goes hand in hand with what Jeffrey said. Make it a priority to learn where and when the fish are here or there.

Lots of good info guys...keep em' coming! I'm not ready to divulge what I think just yet, but I'll drop a hint:

You all know that BG are the only species I pursue. Well, every piece of BG tackle I own fits in this box.....every jig, crankbait, popper, every lure, including my ice jigs......as well as every hook, weight, float...EVERYTHING......

HEY TONY,

WHEN DO WE get to see the secret contents of the infamous box?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is it just bobbers, hooks , and a few split shot, or are there some bugs in there?

Be patient.....all will be revealed in time!  Another teaser:.... If the clothes don't make the man, does the lure make the angler??

Pretty much what everyone is sayiing ------> learn  (know)  the type of cover (area) the fish likely will be in for that time of year (season) along with the water PH and temperature
