Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

The past few seasons it’s been season outdoing the last. Knowledge base on top of knowledge base. Building on some great info from this site and time on the water. I’m anticipating and looking forward to even better results with more citation fish. Anyway that’s the game plan.

Last year was the season of fishing TINY. Thin UL Lines loaded on tiny 50 series reels and light UL rods tossing tiny baits in front of fish targets…quantities of quality panfish and trophy SMB. Tossed the baits into thick cover with reckless abandon. Tiny presentations under slip bobbers thrown next to thick weed slop and weed pockets. Mid day fishing out of the kayak in less than two feet of water and tagging quality fish. Never really had another fishing boat come close to me fishing. it was like i had the lake to myself. looking forward to making some more good memories in the upcoming season.

Looking forward to any hints suggestions or comments from the BBG membership… sharing is the best way to learn and progress!

hope everyone a successful "2016 Open Water Season"

20160408-Wixom Lake looking a little muddy with just an inch or two of visibility… doesn’t take long to settle down once the precipitation slows down. No shore fishing here for a while.

Muddy Wixom Lake... A period of transition

20160411-took a walk to the bridge to test and make some adjustments to set-ups. made a few casts with which i now consider closer to my ideal slip float set-up. more details will be posted later once i get everything tweaked. casts like a dream with solid precision and smooth casting thru the float stop.

Slip, do you fish every day? If so you are a lucky man.

… i try to do as much as i can when it comes to fishing as much as my spine will allow at any given time sometimes 15 mins or a few hours. if i cant physically go out i study and read the forums. im an addict.... lol

… the past few years my phone and tablet have been my life savers... sitting behind the computer has become painful in my life.

… water-temp at the bridge this afternoon a whopping 41 degs... got a significant warming trend coming up. id like to get back out there before the water gets in the 50s. tiny jigs in the cold water was a great producer the past two outings.

20160413- hoping to get some time on the water this afternoon... we'll see... its been two weeks!

How did your day go, Slip?
