Sad but True..They have drained Lee county lake here in Alabama to eliminate the over population of predator fishes such as small bass and crappie. the populations of these two had gotten out of hand. The manager should have made steps to reduce these species and their over population by allowing expanded creel limits and free days. The lake will have some bottom work to allow more deeper water closer to bank fishing areas and then be restocked with bass, bluegill, redear sunfish and of course channel catfish. Will be opened sometime in 2013..I be waiting, this is an exceptional state lake and should be even better after the restocking....
I have followed Lee County lake on my internet search for good panfish waters. Not that long ago, 1-pound shellcrackers were common along with quality bass and crappie. Hope it all works out.
