Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Is it just me or do pond gills seem rounder than lake and river gills?

Howdy Y'all

It seems to me (and this could be just me) but do pond gills seem rounder than lake and river (and creek) gills? Not to say they aren't pretty but they do seem a bit deformed.

Could it be they have less room to wander and less pressure from predator fish?

Or do they just sit in certin places to feed due to structure and less work for their meals?

An inquisitive fisherman wants to know.

Yours in service

Fish in river systems tend to be of a slightly longer look than more rounded look, I attribute this to fighting the current, some species develope a more intensive laterial line in the flesh than their cousins that live in a pond.
