I LIKE TO USE MEPPS SPINNERS IN #0 OR #1 IN GOLD OR SILVER BLADES WITH A DRESSED TAIL. FOR LIVE BAIT A PIECE OF CRAWLER OR WHOLE GARDEN WORM UNDER A BOBBER OR WITH SOME SMALL SPLIT SHOT TO GET DEEPER. I LIKE THE TRU-TURN HOOKS IN #6 OR 8.
I like a live fresh leaf worm, giant redworm or small leech under a float (fit and slip England bobber).

I use 1/80 oz green or orange plain jighead with Gulp maggots. I like it when I fish a new lake to quickly how good bluegills in the lake. Lot of 8" and 9" on this jig/gulp maggotfor me!
Probably actually a combination. Last year, my wife was fishing with crickets on a 1/32 or 1/64 oz Grizzly type jig and I spent so much time taking off bluegill & redear that I never got to fish much myself. Good time though...
I prefer to not use live bait because I can catch just as much if not more bluegills while fly fishing then when I use livebait. and its easier using flies because you do not need to rebait the hook after every fish ot two... Im refering to using nightcrawlers. When using flies, you can't really go wrong around here anyways, I like to use topwater bugs most of the time, foam spider and poppers but if the gills are finicky and are just "nipping" at the foam spider or poppers I will switch to a small dry fly of some sort, When using small dry fly its hard for those finicky bluegills to just nip at the fly without inhaling it, therefore you get more hook-ups and fish.
I like to fish with a bobber,gold hook,and a night crawler.
when the bream start making beds its hard to beat 1/32 ounce jig on a 11 foot jig pole

after they make the beds and are on thenlive bait poppin bug

right after the spawn hands down rubber spider

Hey guys! My favorite baits are half night crawlers or quarter of a blue nose on a carolina rig.
a small sweadish pimple with the single hook. Also a small beetle spin maybe 1/16 oz tipped with red worms. For the bull gills ive gone as big as a #4 hook while using worm baits. However, that is only for
the jumbos. I use gamakatsu hooks and usually crush the barbs down for easier removal. Line test is
6# mainline and leader for the carolina rig. Leader length is anywhere from 6-18 inches, depending on
how the fish are hitting. I generally start with 12in and either go up or down.
