Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I'd been wanting to get an underwater housing for one of my cameras (this one actually fits two of them) for a long time.... but while my Canon A630 and A640 cost $150 and $200, the underwater housing was originally $240 !

Anyway, I ended up getting one on a clearence sale (since Canon no longer makes those cameras) for the steal of a deal of $77 :)

Hopefully here soon, I'll be able to get into some clear water Gills, and be able to take some underwater shots which I will post here.

Does this thing look high tech, or what ? :-)

Peace,
Fish

Sometimes the word "awesome" gets thrown around a little loosely...

But this is truly awesome! It makes me want one really bad.
Hey Walt, well mine is a Canon brand housing, so of course they don't make one for your Nikon....

But other companies do. Only thing I hate to have to tell you though, underwater housings for SLR cameras are WAAAAY expensive ! I think most are going to be in the $1000 to $1500 range. And the thing that sucks, is that they are really no more technical, nor neccessarily any better quality than the Canon brand one I paid $77 for. It's just that if your using an SLR underwater, they assume your a pro, who's getting paid for his work, and they figure, you'd be more likely to "pay" $1000 to $1500, where a hobbyist using a fixed lens camera, likely wouldn't.

Here's one for your D70 though; http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/562359-REG/Nimar_NI303D_1617_...

Damn, Fish; that thing looks like it's gonna start shootin lasers or something!!! You sure you didn't swipe that off the Star Trek set??!!! Great camera!!!!
For years I've been sticker shocked at the price of underwater housings, and because my cameras are nothing special $200-$400, I could never justify the cost of the housing. Last year I found a product by Aqua-Pac. This item is nothing more than a glorified ziplock bag with a lock seal, but works rather well down to a depth of 15 ft.

Hey Bill, I hear you. I got super deals on my Canon A630 and A640's.... so the housing (original cost) would have been more than the cameras ! That's why when they went to 65% off, I had to snag one before they were gone.

BTW though (not bragging just because I own 3 of them) but I honestly believe the little Canon A-6XX series cameras, were some of the best point and shoot cameras, for the best price Canon ever made. Inexpensive, but very high quality, with excellent photo quality.

Anyway, for those not so lucky to get a high tech, camera specific housing like I got, for so cheap, yes, the "glorified zip-lock" seems totally workable.

Peace,
Fish
