bluegill fishing south of st. louis area.

Hello all,  can anyone recommend spots around southern missouri to take kids blue gill fishing.  I used to fish off the Illinois river close to Grafton Il,  and down at Horse Shoe near Cairo, Il, we used to slay the bluegill but both of those places seem overrun with those asian carp.  If it is ok, i will be picking your brains as it looks like there are really successful fisherman on here.  I love fishing heavy cover, always have used a flyrod.  Thanks everyone.  Tim
