Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I've just returned from a 2 week adventure in Canada......We were met with a snow storm upon our arrival on the 15th and the water was cold...45 deg. A dismal weather pattern had us in full ice-fishing gear for the first week....however the fishing was rather good...Walleyes, Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout. The cold water temps finally gave way to the intense Canadian sunshine by the middle of the second week and we began to see surface temps rise into the mid to upper 50's....On the 13th day of our trip we targeted Crappies. Locating slab Crappies well north of the 50th parallel is quite unusual and almost unheard of. We found a small isolated rock hump that produced some really nice fish, the males were wearing black faces and the females were considerably extended.....we caged 26 for a photo shoot, and released them all. May 29th, last day of trip, after pounding the water everyday for 2 weeks, my partners and I had absolutely no luck with finding concentrations of jumbo Perch but our luck changed just 3 hours before the fishing would end and we located a small school of large Perch using an Aqua-Vu....turns out the school wasn't that small and we captured 87 to finish out the trip.......I should be doing laundry today but the gills are on the beds on the small lakes in my home town area, so I'm off to the spawning grounds!

Lots of pics and video on the way from this trip.
