tie mini jigs/doll flys and they seem to catch all most anyting
i use no.12/10 hooks with 6mm bead head maraboo tail and glimmer yarn or chinele for the body. white black and chartruse seem to be the best colors. also stoneflies work very well

I've done well catching gills on black jigs I've tied.I'm a lousy tier but black rabbit fur and black thread has worked for me.
Have fun with your new hobby!
small jigs work great.black with a green tail. works great with a brass or metalic green bead head. stone flies are also great when they get picky.
cant think of where i saw it but poppers made out of old flip flops also work great. just punch out the size u want and tie them on 12/10 hook.
these seem to work quite well
