Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

With a fishing contest over and done with, it was time to fish for the sake of fishing and fun with the family.

Went out to a local lake that is for kids only, and those helping kids.

Had a very nice time, Caught some real nice FAT gills, nothing spectacular. My oldest girl didn't even want a picture taken unless it was over 9". She's gotten spoiled since she caught a nice 9.25" last month!

Here are some of the pics we took,

only 6", but fat, and fought like a banshee!

Thanks for posting those pictures. Isn't it great when kids get spoiled because they're catching too many good fish? Can you comment on the reel that your oldest is using? How does she like it? Pretty reliable?
Bruce, the reel isn't bad, it's not great, but for a 20$ walmart combo it does the job. It did work a whole lot better after I took out what ever line it started out with and replaced it with 6lb test. I'm really impressed with the rod though. Makes for a real good fight on gills and small cats.
