I'm not retired yet. I will reach the 30 year mark with county government next year, but I may hang in here a few more years.
I used to fish AL Point with my sister's boyfriend (later husband) many years ago. I didn't fly fish in those days. I was there one Saturday with my mother when I was about 13 and hooked something that made my line snap - sounding like a fire cracker. I didn't know what drag was in those days; I figured that you just tightened the spool 'nut' good and tight. :0
We used to catch good numbers of crabs and a varied grab bag of fish from the sea wall on the west end of the bridge. When AL started requiring a license for shore bound SW fishers we pretty much stopped going there. I haven't fished there in many years.
Hey Carl, Glad we are now bluegill buds. I am from the very northwest corner of Indiana. I typically fish Willow Slough, farm ponds or a couple of the county park lakes. I do make an annual pilgrimage to Kentucky Lake. My In-Laws live near Aurora where 68 crosses Jonathan Creek. I LOVE BLUEGILLS!!!!
Couldn't agree more Carl.......happy Memorial Day to everyone and thanks to all of our veterans especially the ones that made the ultimate sacrifice.......
Hey Carl. I can't say much for retirement pay, but it sure frees up some fishing time! I'm from the Hudson Valley of New York, where the Esopus Creek meets the Hudson River, and the Catskill Mts. ledge down into the valley. Makes for a good variety of fishing, from little brook trout streams to sea run stripers in the river.
Carl, been awhile since i have checked in to the site...I did live in Jacksonville, Al..but, last year I moved to Fairview, Tn to be close to my daughter and her family...Not in the best of health but, hope to get some good gill fishing in this year...tc...Rob
I am just an old fart that started FF when and where nobody else did so I am self taught plus what I could get out of what few books were available. I got busy raising a family and working so I got side tracked for a severl years. I finally got back into FF about 6 years ago and I have learned more since then than all the years prior thanks to the internet. What a wonderful tool.

Hi Carl, Glad to have you as a fishing friend. I live right on the MD & Pa line & fishing in both states.
I have tried different things with no luck I would use a baitcaster if they would cast light baits
