Nice catch Jim!I haven't been to the tackle shop in awhile .Just ice fishin alone or with my brother mostly ...only catching a few.I live very near the Monksville Reservoir (Ringwood NJ) where someone caught a Huge Musky a few years ago.I'll try to dig up detailed info on that event and get back to you.

Hi Jim, thanks for the nice comments! I fish any and all ponds/lakes that I can (most of those came from a variety of public and private ponds/lakes in both Virginia and New York areas (lived in VA most of my life and moved up to upstate NY in 02/08). Ultimate dream which I'm working on is to own my own pond and raise trophy bluegill!!!

Yep that's the one Lake May , Lotsa nice crappie in there along with gills, Largemouth, and BIG carp. I have a little tin rig (12 foot jon) we put in there (half the lake is private land but in the boat I can hit untouched water!! I also really love Little Seneca lake. Ever been?

all summer, hunting for big gills takes up most of my time. I fish mostly in south west MI. Gull Lake is where I do most of my fishing. 7miles north to south, plenty of shallow plains with steep drop offs. Any way this site is wonderful thanks

Cool! I should have a piece out in InFish soon on catchin crappies from the shore, we did well last year and I managed about 75 crappies from 13 to 15 in, relaesed over half of those fish. For the past several years I have been releasing all bluegills over 10 in, keeping only a handful of 8 to 9 inchers now and again for a meal. Talk to ya!

Jim,
I have followed your articals in In-Fisherman, I'm from southeast Michigan and fish the backwaters, marina's and canals of the Detroit River, Lk. ST.Clair and Erie.I think we share alot of similar methods and types of catches. I typically do not keep very many Bluegills (I 'd rather eat perch) and anything over 81/2 inches goes back..I have caught several 10+ gills fishing for prespawn crappies that are in some of the same places. Genz worms w/1inch tubes and a thill shy bite float can do a number on alot of the smart ones....Bruce Yinger
