You got some real horses there, Angelo. They really are more cautious than most people give them credit for. Congratulations on your catches.

Nice job!

Fly fishing for river koi (Japanese carp) is popular in Japan, I saw a number of people doing it in the river near where I lived there. With dry flies, no less! A commonly used fly is apparently made to imitate a piece of bread - it's a big, bushy floating white thing. I wasn't close enough to see what it was made from.

Hey Angelo...in a lifetime of fishing I have caught at least a dozen carp on lures, fish that actually struck the lure. Mostly jigs, but some on small spinners and shad darts. Great fun!

That is one mission I must accomplish catching a Carp on a fly. But my lakes the carp don't seem to near the shallow's at all, I will see the mud picking up in the distance but don't have a boat so it's almost impossible It would be one great fight tho. Only one time I hooked a 5-lb carp on 4-lb mono line and the rod was 4'6'' I fought that little carp for an hour before finally spitting the hook right before I was able to grab him.
I hear the grass carp are sensational fighters! I have only hooked one in my life, and it was snagged in the tail on a 1/32 oz green jig and 4 lb test. Fought the fish for a good 45 minutes then the hook pulled out. Might've been a 20.

nice pics-i am still trying to get more carp on the fly rod.a club lake i fish has giant grass carp used for vegetation control-i am not lying some over 40 lbs.we are not supposed to fish for them as they are sterile and were expensive.2 years ago i was out bass fishing from shore had an 8 wt rod, early spring.choke cherry trees were dropping these pods.i saw something sipping these pods off the surface.picked some pods up found a size 8 fly and stripped every thing off the hook and threaded…

I thought it was a mirror carp but I alway's thought that they were only in Europe and Morocco region's (Mirror carp). I have try the hair rig's and I never had luck with them I missed 2 on those rigs. I have saw many video on youtube on European carp fishing, They use a little bit too much technology. I don't like the bite alarm's they have it takes the fun out of it fishing for these guy's. Pineapple chunks? They do eat a variety of things you got that right. Thinking about going carp…

By the way, your third from the last photo is what is known as a 'fully scaled mirror carp'...a rare catch in most regions. I have caught but one FSM, but it was about 17 pounds, from the Potomac River. Great fish!
