Okay everybody...let me know what you think. My friend and fisher/partner Andre Sturkey has been posting some pretty impressive photos on this site as of late. He's catching big largemouths, big smallmouths, crappies, pickerel, croakers, cats, big carp, trout, pickerel, white perch, big gills and more and more. Monster stripers can't elude him and trophy bass can not escape him.

My question is this...should Andre be a guide, and quit his day job that brings in $345,000…

Friday while a buddy and I were fishing a small lake that is part of the watershed I fish, I was rewarded with a 1+ pound "slab" crappie.

 

I was using that Shallow Shad Rap again that caught me the 3 from my other report. The way I was using it was giving it a jerk on the surface and the letting it come back up before jerking it again. I saw that explosion and set the hook thinking I had a 2 or 3 pound largemouth on.…

Last week I hit a few areas on 2 stretches of the main river that is the watershed of my local crappie grounds. The lure of choice was a size 5 shad Rapala Shallow Shad Rap.

 

Caught 1 8" crappie at one stretch, with a 7" redbreast and 12" chain pickerel mixed in. I had many redbreasts and bluegills follow the lure.

 

Caught another 8" calico and a small 6"er at the other stretch.

I chose this spot because I have been by it many times and wanted to try it out. The Apple Barn and Orvis Sporting goods store are here on the property. It is quiet and very picturesque.

I was just checking the "Google Analytics" stat sheet for www.bigbluegill.com and I noticed that we have some serious activity from California.  Can somebody please give me a little bit of information on this phenomenon?  Besides the fact that there are some bluegill there?  :-)

I just recently got in to Bluegill fishing with artifical lures.for years i used worms or other live bait and did good in spring,but then id swicth to bass fishing.this spring thought some guys i fish with have got me to useing Trout Magnets and ultralight tackle for Bluegill and Shellcracker,the past five trips fishing i havent even took any bass tackle with me.Iam looking to learn more about fishing Trout Magnets and other artifical lures for Bluegill.the set up i use is a 7ft 6in…

i started fishing a lake that is close by. i have heard a lot of good reports about good gills there. been there twice this week and no luck. 6 nice gills first trip, 7 the next. cannot find the fish. the lake is deep with steep drop offs any one have any suggestions.
