How can we get some of our best stuff where anyone can find it? I have noticed 7.5 bluegill Sharon has been on a mission, digging through old discussions and asking questions. I admire Sharon. She knows she doesn't know and ain't afraid to say so. She asks anybody. I'm with you Sharon; I just know there's a pony under this pile of stuff somewhere.

Our groups would seem to be a start for organizing lots of our stuff. Group administrators, usually the one who started the group, have the ability to feature a group discussion in the group. Maybe that could be used to get key info to the top of the main page on a group. My HOW TO group is an effort to get some of the most asked questions answered in one easy to find place. From how to upload pictures to how to hook a cricket. I hope that we will all use it and contribute to it. But it is designed to be limited to actual HOW TO do something info, not general info. Bruce has a new group about fly tying instructions and pictures ONLY. The intent is to limit what is in that group TO actual demonstration of how to tie a particular fly. That’s a good idea to me. Easy to find a special thing in a special group.

There is so much info on here which relates to group interests that have already been established. But the info is not in the group. It’s just a blog or discussion that hasn’t been seen for awhile. Unless you are a digger like Sharon, it might never be seen again. Lots of the same questions keep getting asked over and over again over time. The answers are usually there, but digging takes time, and it helps to have a shovel, or other diggers to lend a hand. If you come across some good info on here, how do you stake a claim to the gold mine? By staking a claim, I really mean claim it for all of us. Make it easy to find. I don’t know. Tagging our discussions, pictures, videos and blogs would sure make searching easier. Bruce, as administrator, could go through all of them and tag them for us. I ain’t holding my breath for that. Way more work than I would be willing to do myself. But I can go through MY pics and discussions I started and tag them with key subject words. So can you. Look at my tags for this blog to see what I mean. You can edit your own pics and discussions and tag them at any time.

I don’t know what we could do about organizing this pile of stuff, maybe it already is. Too much organization stifles spontaneity and creativity, even may stifle interest. I’m just doing a Sharon thing.

Like...last week, the Boogieman went fishing for the first time ever...on moving water! The Boogieman has always fished small lakes and ponds, but always thought that the black water under the curvy bridge at Vernon, Florida looked mighty fishy. He had no idea how right he was. Holmes Creek is a large, fast flowing, high volume creek that flows into the Choctawhatchee River. It is fed by very numerous natural springs that dot the countryside along it's path.

The seven sunfish pictured above were all minding their own business at the mouth of one of those spring flows into the Holmes Creek, when they met the Boogieman. He pulled his Boogieboat out of the maelstrom that is Holmes Creek and into a fifteen foot deep pool of black. The air temperature was 92 and the water temp was 71! That is cold in Florida at the end of August. The water looked black but was really quite clear, just deep. Visibility was several feet and the Boogieman anchored in about nine feet of water. He spied a twin log underwater structure near the bank and flipped his cricket there on his 12 ft Crimson pole. Before he left that "Honey Hole", all seven different sunfish in the picture had feasted on crickets and all ran under the same log. Unlike the "still water" sunfish the Boogieman was used to, every one of these "moving water" fish DID NOT swallow the hook. All were hooked in the top lip and all fought like demons. The Boogieman was stunned by the difference in the intensity of the fight, and the duration and repeated runs by the "moving water" fish. It must have been the cold water and the fast current that made the difference. Whatever it is, the Boogieman was so impressed he is now a "Moving Water" fisherman.

Not pictured is the largest shellcracker the Boogieman has ever "almost" caught, a 4 to 5 lb bowfin that the Boogieman got right up to the edge of the Boogieboat, and numerous longear sunfish ( beautifully colored like a pumpkinseed) that he has no idea how he missed getting their pictures. They all ran under that same log. Next trip!!!
I Pledge To Re-Read The Rules Every Now And Thentag:bigbluegill.ning.com,2009-10-11:2036984:BlogPost:603512009-10-11T20:00:00.000Zbluegillboogiemanhttps://bigbluegill.ning.com/profile/Bluegillboogieman
In fact, I’m going to go over them right now so I will have a clear understanding of what ya’ll should expect from me. I promise to abide by the rules, and enjoy it!
I pledge not to cross the line, although I’m not too sure I’ll pledge to stay in line. I got a paddling at school in the 1rst grade for that. It was the after lunch, back to class line. I pledge not to cross the line, although I’m not too sure I’ll pledge to stay in line. I got a paddling at school in the 1rst grade for that. It was the after lunch, back to class line. I was in it, it started moving and I went with it all the way back to the classroom and sat down in my desk just like we’d been doing. Somehow, that line left the teacher talking to another teacher in the lunchroom. Boy was she ill when she couldn’t find us where she’d left us. That was 53 years ago and I’ve been funny about staying in line ever since. I always suspect there’s something “fishy” going on.
1. I pledge not to shame myself with profanity on BigBluegill.com. I pledge to work on it everywhere else too. Dang! I can’t believe I went that far.
2. I pledge not to get into race, religion or politics here. I promise to get into some of them elsewhere, depending on how long the line is.
3. I pledge to stick to discussions to do with bluegill, shellcracker, crappie and other sunfish. NOT BASS. I know they are sunfish but they bring out the profanity in me and I done swore off that. I do enjoy slinging them a fer piece though so I guess as long as it’s along those lines. There’s them lines again. See what I mean? Gotta be careful.
4. I pledge not to care whether you keep ‘em or chunk ‘em. If it naturally comes up when and why you choose your way, I’ll let it go right in one eye and out the other. Let’s be fair. I’ll do it my way over here, and you do it your way over there.
5. I pledge not to worry about how Off Topic any discussion is or becomes. I’ll let the executive decision makers worry about that. I’ll either read it or I won’t. Join it or not. I’m a big boy. I promise not to be offended if an executive decision is made to “Nip It, Nip It In The Bud”. That’s why we let them have that bullet.
6. I pledge to look up the meaning of “fishing methodology”, someday. Just guessing, it sounds like more trouble than I’d be willing to commit to but I will look it up…. someday. Meanwhile, ya’ll knock yourselves out with your method describing and I’ll steal all the good ideas that don’t seem too hard. Don’t expect much teaching from me though, nothing incredible on my end.
7. I pledge to keep my photos in line. There’s that thing about lines again. I just know there’s something fishy about this one but I’ll stay in it.
8. I pledge not to sell anything here except my intellect and I’m letting it go dirt cheap. I tried giving it away elsewhere with little success, so somebody’s got to pay. Or… you can pay me to keep it to myself. I’m easy.
9. I pledge not to attack anyone for their preferred method of fishing, unless they are secretly fishing for bass while pretending to fish for bluegill. That just ain't funny. I'll sling 'em the bass I caught while actually fishing for bluegill. That ain't actually attacking them anyway. I got to release them bait stealers somehow.
10. I pledge not to use the messaging system to promote any religious or political agenda. Left Wing, Right Wing, Bluegills ain’t got no wings. They do have gendas. Bulls is prettier than sows. I’m not promoting it; I’m just letting my intellect run free. If this offends anyone, just say so and I’ll keep the bulls to myself. You can have them ugly girl gills.
11. I pledge to enjoy my visits to BigBluegill.com. That’s all I’ve got to say about that.

I solemnly swear,

Boogieman
