- Thanks John…..they seem to be more solitary around the Albemarle sound region. Growing up in Louisiana in the 70s, my Dad and I would catch over a hundred in a day targeting them with flyrod/poppers and grass shrimp….we had a fiberglass lake skiff with a 60 gallon live well, it would be packed with big Warmouth or goggle-eyed perch as they are called in Louisiana….they typically give up shortly after hook set but the easiest sunfish to filet in my opinion….
