Really ? I can see that happening as cold water Pickerel after ice out I go to a small bucktail jig . Thanks Steve

John, I've been getting a bunch of these guys while targeting crappie, gills and perch.  I'm using a 1.5" crappie tube on a size 8 hook in a dropshot rig.  I modify the tube by pinching off all but the thickest of the tube's tentacles so it just has one thin "tail".  The tube disappeared with this fish, but if you look close, you can see the tiny hook in the corner of the pickerel's mouth.

Steve , what'd  this guy take? For these guys spoons tipped with worms is my go to bait this time of year  up here a little north of you .Great looking rod and reel!

Very good Pickerel ,only caught about 5 this size myself.
