Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Caught 10 Giant Golden Shiners on Tipped 1/32 Ounce Jigs

Their mouth is relatively small but I hooked many today on a tipped 1/32 ounce jig......These things were piled in right in the middle of the shallow crappie........

These are a  somewhat rare catch in New Jersey . Most I ever caught ,at one time, was I think 7 ,when I was a kid . How many do you think you caught on this outing Jeffrey?

Man, that thing is freaking huge.

We used em as bass bait years ago in FL.
First time I caught one I was surprised to see them. I didn't know they were native fishes.

I don't eat em' David......I don't mind catching a few especially this size......ironically, yesterday they were hitting even harder than 12 to 13 inch crappie......you miss a few because of their smaller mouth......certainly a good catfish or big bass bait Earl.......I've seen shows where anglers put these underneath a balloon and swim them in and around pads........

I'd like to have a dozen or so of those to take out on the river!

Great sport there Jeff. I was surprised how many I caught with the flu rod last year mid summer. Nice fight.
