Thanks Bruce, I look forward to learning more about bluegill from your site. Seeing these pics brings back great memories when I was a kid, hanging my feet over the bulkhead at our house on Lake Livingston (the largest man-made lake in Texas at the time) and catching bluegill until I couldn't reel that big 'ol Zebco any more!

I keep getting comments from one member that my fish look stunted. I am unable to find on BBG or online any describtion of stunted bluegill with a picture for an example. I would like to make this part of the how to group. Can you either direct me to an example or write a comment, complete with picture?

Thanks for adding me to a great site! I'm a lifetime fan of Bluegill fishing and I have hundreds of photos and testimonials to share. I'm an avid live bait fisherman in and around the Albermarle and Pamlico sounds in North Carolina. Keep up the good work and I look forward to a great 2011 for all anglers.

Warren outdoors featured "Richmond Mill" today 1/23 and I saw you in a few clips. The place is awesome and I can't wait to get down there and shoot for a record. The fact that the public can access this lake is a treat. I didn't realize how many nice Largemouth were thriving in the lake as well. Its very cold in N.C. this weekend so I didn't get out but we're gearing up....

Hey Bruce! Love your pics! It's crappie season here in Jackson MS, and the UNREAL warmth of recent days caused me to run full speed off the end of the dock a few days ago... I can report with authority that water is slow to warm! 'Bout had a heart attack! YIKES! Being so far south of the snow, I don't complain... it was GREAT!!! I'll be headed to Pensacola FL for the next full moon, to fish my favorite pond. I'm hoping to put my dear sweet mother, who has been buying her boy tackle for 40 years, onto the womens IFGA for bream on 4lb test. It's swimming now... and I bought her the PERFECT rod for the job, I'll rig a bimini [by IFGA regs!] to 6 lb flourocarbon, and show her where to sneak up and cast. We're having fun planning! Look for us on the cover of Florida Sportsman! Any advice on bedding bream in EARLY spring, for a guy who truly was blessed with the coolest mom ever? I've pulled a couple dozen 2 lb coppernose [wardaddies in FL] from the pond... I'll find her one that's bigger!

Bruce nice article in the great plains mag. Good read keep up the good work.

Hey Bruce! my road trip across the FL panhandle and down the E. coast has been delayed until tomorrow by heavy rain, lightening, and wind... I can't stop to stretch my legs and wet a line in that! I've been doing a google search for hints on the best shellcracker spots between here and there. The serious camping and fishing will have to wait until my return trip, after I get paid... but I'll scout for good water on the way, and have a pole and cooler handy. I like the sound of Three Rivers state park. Mid panhandle, up by the Georgia line. I'll be on the lookout for thos famous spring fed limestone sink hole lakes... lots of calcium from the limestone to provide good populations of clams and crayfish for red ears! The gin clear water requires very light line, but I'm ready... just bundled about 20 rods, from 4lb spinners to 40lb tarpon rods... which would also be perfect for whuppin' on some big apalachicola river flat heads! I'll be fishing in the water traps of FL golf courses at some point... they're always full of surprises! Big oscars and ciclids, maybe even a snakehead or two... I'll keep my camera handy!

And I just discovered the comments area at the bottom of my page... my apologies, I've never gotten that far down the page without clicking on someones pics! I wondered why AOL kept sending me to an empty mailbox here...

  • Jeffrey D. Abney

Wonderful to keep up with things on bigbluegill.com. My grandfather made me a bluegill fisherman as a kid growing up in Louisiana and I get joked all the time about bluegill fishing from a bass boat. I'm on vacation through the fourth of July and look forward to sharing memories with friends and family. Thanks for the friend request and I look forward to talking Gills with you.
  • Chad Hood

Hi Bruce. Greg Williams said I should write you to let you know I am having trouble loading pictures into ANY group. Greg does the same thing I do, and has no problem. I click on image, browse, select picture, and click on ok. It spins and spins but never loads the picture. What can I do to solve this?
  • Jeffrey D. Abney

2500 Members Bruce! Thats awesome and I personally visit several times a day. Information and pictures travel fast and its nice to find people with the same passion. Keep up the great work and enjoy the holiday! Your friend in North Carolina!

I have noticed that the bluegillers who like to chat often miss each other on chat because they can't sit there and stare at the screen. Do you think it would be possible to add a buzzer if someone chats? Only the people who are interested in chatting could activate it.
  • 10.5" RES Sharon

It's good to know that, because every time I have a question, someone tells me to ask you. Now, you have convinced me you know as little as I do, which is pleasant. lol
  • Patricia Ramirez

Thanks for the invitation i am learning a lot in the blog

Bruce thank you and I would be honored but I know my limitations at this time won't let it happen. I would like to commend you on the Big Bluegill site, what a great way to educate people and keep there interest. Thanks for the friend request! I am sitting here reading and talking lures with a friend on the phone and pumped for another crack at the gills again tomorrow. You would think after 100 today I would be satisfied? Never!!!!!!!!!!!! Great site for sure.

Thank you Bruce. I really enjoy welcoming the new members. and sharing some of my knowledge. I don't get out a lot because I have to be here to look after the wife. I retired 2 years ago and thought I would be a fishing fool. Unfortunately for me a couple months into my retirement my wife had a stroke and fishing is no longer my #1 priority but high on my thought process. Being as I'm in here with her most of the time I keep logged into Big Bluegill. It's not the same as being on the water but Big Bluegill doe's give me some satisfaction. I've been fishing for over 50 years and with that some knowledge and I love to share with anybody who will listen and hopefully helping them in the long run. If a chance arises I will be on the water but it's now few and far between. I love the sport it has brought me much enjoyment in my lifetime so maybe I can help some of the beginners and with that maybe they will enjoy the sport as much as I do. I also enjoy other peoples information and still keeping myself updated  learning new things all the time. So you see I'm really obsessed with the sport and if I can help anybody I will do it. The site is a very useful, educational, entertaining, enjoyable and above all we have a great group of people.

Bruce first of all Merry Christmas. I would like to thank you again for thsi great site. I set up a blog on electric reels which I need for the wife and I can tell you it worked out great. I talk to Dan at fishing abilities and we are going to fix my wife up with a reel that will help to to fish once again. The main reason I'm writing you now is I'm sure you read all the new invite's. I think you have access to everything I just wanted to be sure you read Ken McBroom as he added a comment to my profile. I was quit pleased but I think it was meant more for you. Thank you and again may you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.

    Bruce,

If you have tried to view my group Tying for? - there are no discussions showing. I changed the pictrure from a Wooly Bugger to a Zoo Cougar and that is when it got messed up. I reported the issue and have heard nothing. I was just wondering how long it might to get it back up. Guy in the group have been asking me.

    Thanks

    Rick

Hey Bruce, Read your post on PB and I appreciate your honesty and heart felt loss. In the end you are lucky to have felt that way. I know you will continue to fish and have some whopper tails for him, when you get there. I'll have a couple for him too when I get there before you because I am older than you and I hope a long life for you. Great memories and happy trails to you.

  • Lori Rexrode Hall
