Welcome aboard David to the bigbluegill.com. At this site we have lots and lots of information all you have to do is look, learn and enjoy. We have blogs that are interesting in themselves each one loaded with information all we have to do is look at them read them and learn from them. We have forums another tool to spread information on the site either in a question or shared gathered information so don't be afraid to participate, its a learning tool we can all learn something from. If we have knowledge of the subject matter please share so we can learn also, we all want to learn that's why where here. On the site is tons of information for us to fine tune our skills. When we do get to go out and fish we are learning maybe even using some of our new learned skills. Don't be afraid to share your fishing experiences with us we would love to hear about them. We have one of the best photo sections I know of anywhere put in by the members. There are fish pictures not just bluegills but lots of different species with lots of the quality picture's. Again it's there for us to use and get lost in all those quality photo's. No site would be complete without a video section and we have a great one with lots of video's to look at. There is so much to see on the site you can't help but to learn something about fishing and that's really why we are here to learn and have fun doing it. Then last of all we have a chat line which is very under utilized but there to use, you must be logged on to participate in any activity other than that it is read only. Enjoy our site and learn so we can become better fisherman and in turn enjoying our sport a little bit more. Have fun with the site and GOODFISHIN..
Welcome to a great site Tooty....it never gets old talking about Bluegill fishing and all the unique ideas that the different members have...Fliers have one of the smallest ranges of the sunfish family.....I feel fortunate to have some good locations to fish for them.......I'm a true Southern Boy so I can't wait for Spring.....
Good Deal and look forward to your continued posting......If its Bluegill, I always have a good ear...can't wait for the Spring pick up.....Talk to you soon Tooty!
Charlie brown here. You seem to have my lure confused with something it's not. It's actually made of balsa .It's body is 5/16" x 1 5/8" on a # 4 Mustad ck52s.A glass rattle is inserted in the rear. o.a.l. 2 3/4".It floats.
I seem to have a hard time navigating this site. It's hard for me to take the time to figure such things out.I'd like to post some photos, who should I ask for help?
Thanks for the welcome. Been visiting the site for awhile. Found it through the Pond Boss forum. You're right, there is some awesome pictures and a lot of of first hand knowledge here. Hope to glean all I can. We had a small pond built (1/4 acre) last Aug and hoping to make it a bluegill pond.
Live in Virginia which is just 30 miles west of Springfield. We live in the country beside The Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish & Wildlife Area. It's around 16,000 acres of hunting land and some fishing lakes/ponds. We have 13 acres which 5 is farmed by a friend. Both retired but my wife still subs (teacher) and I drive a scholl bus route in the morning. We have a ministry called FishinPals which we started 11 years ago and hold fishing events. for kids and adults. Web site
Did some bank fishing. On Wed I was playing with the little crappie, and got a bonus bass, He was fun, My new rod seems to do alright with the bigger fish. Then Thurs. I went fishing in the rain, and all I caught were little bass. It was nice to be out and catch some fish. Let me know how your doing at the strip pits.
I take it, from some of your pictures, that you tie too. To me it is a thrill to catch on something that I've tied, especially something that just sorta shows up from some of this and that. Please keep us informed with your adventures. Thanks
Sorry I have not answered the phone Been workin alot 12 hr days worked last sunday & today too !! If there is work available I ahve volunteered for it ! the others are sissssies !
I am a road warrior use to workin 7-12's the other mutts ! do not want to do this !!
I apologize for this ! I have the ringer turned off so I am not disturbed
Wow what great , I started fly fishing when I was seven using my grandpas bamboo rod, and used Shakespeare wonder rod for years. I see you are making some of your own fly rods can you email some pics to me at hunter9244@gmail.com.
That's a definitely Tooty. Human and family pets are precious. We were a bit edgy after the first strike, and various strikes to follow from the distant, but we're golden now, as we laughed our fear of the little lightning show..yeahh....
David, Thanks for the compliments. Feel I'm fortunate to share ideas with talented tiers such as yourself and others on this site. Have learned in the 30 years of tying flies that an old dog like me can learn a new trick, if he hangs with dogs who knows some tricks. Thanks again!!
Hi David, I see you tie some jigs. Isn't it neat to catch on your own ties? I am a huge fan of the 1/80 jigs and calf tail is what I use most. I also have made my own solder head jigs to produce a jig like the famous "Grizzly Jigs" I got busy and didn't fish a lot this season. I hope the drought didn't kill off some of my smaller haunts. Thank you for the nice comments on this site. I sort of drifted away as I can't find those bluegill in the midwest that weight 2 and 3+ lbs. I'm on a tight budget so can't (and don't want) to buy my way into the popular pay lakes I see on the site. Thanks again for the comments. Michael J. Searl
