Welcome to BBG sharon. I saw your discussion question but am unqualified to answer it. You are definately in the right place to get it answered though and I'm sure you'll get some good advice. In the meantime, there is a search bar top right on the main page. have at it and see what has already been discussed about how to grow 'em. A lot!

None is a sad answer for the profile question Largest Bluegill Ever Caught. While yours are growing, go find you an established pond you can fish at and get hold of a big gill or two. You'll be the one hooked.

Double Dang! I ain't got no pond!. I have to go to Florida to find one. Well, not really, it just that the fishing always seems better where I ain't. Like Texas! Why, I'd bet your lakes out there are just ponds.

I saw somewhere you got yourself a new flyrod for Christmas. Way to go! I've got 2 or 3 of 'em myself somewhere. I always carry one in case I see some feeding over there where I ain't. My rod of choice though is a 9ft collapsible bream buster pole. Like an old fashioned cane pole only plastic! I rig it with a 6 to 8lb line, quill or pencil bobber, single "B" sinker and #8 "Tru Turn" hook with a live cricket on it. Up close and personal, thats how I like to fish for bluegill.

I take that cricket out of the water when I reach for that fly rod though. No sense having to worry about the gills right under my feet when I can try for one over there where I ain't! Don't know why I find where I ain't so appealing.

You ain't in Kansas anymore Sharon! Your in Bigbluegill.com land. I told you you'd get some good answers here. Plus you can just talk with people of like minds where you ain't. Ain't that appealing?

    Hey thanks Sharon.

I've been surf and steelhead fishing for a while now but I miss those lakes and ponds. I'll give it a shot.
  • bluegillboogieman

She hasn't been fishing with me in more than 20 yrs. I set her up on here in hopes of whetting her appetite. A light nibble was all I got. Now that's sad!

She will still boogie with me though so there is hope. We've even boogied in Texas. Hmm. Maybe I could boogie trick her onto the boat.

Now go back to your profile settings and add this after 5". I grew him myself.! Ya'll just wait!

fishing is and isn't a sport. it is a sport when you'r in a fishing tournament and could win a prize or something. but if your not in a tournament and just doing it for fun then its not a sport, it's more like a hobby.
  • Magnolia Rick

In a hospital's Intensive Care Unit, patients always died in the same bed, on Sunday morning, at about 11:00 am, regardless of their medical condition. This puzzled the doctors and some even thought it had something to do with the super natural. No one could solve the mystery as to why the deaths occurred around 11:00 AM Sunday, so a worldwide team of experts was assembled to investigate the cause of the incidents. The next Sunday morning, a few minutes before 11:00 AM all of the doctors and nurses nervously waited outside the ward to see for themselves what the terrible phenomenon was all about.. Some were holding wooden crosses, prayer books, and other holy objects to ward off the evil spirits. Just when the clock struck 11:00, Pookie Johnson, the part-time Sunday janitor, entered the ward and unplugged the life support system so he could plug in his vacuum cleaner.

I'll check. I haven't heard of any other issues, so I'd suspect it's in your settings, but I have had people see some of their functions quit working for a day or two, then magically return to normal. I'm not sure.

Starting discussions that ask questions would seem to fit in the general forum on the big board. Let me think. Maybe an I would like to know how to Discussion that could have multiple request that get answered in a seperate How to Discussion. Let me think. OH! I said that.
  • bluegillboogieman

Sharon, one drawback to a group discussion is I don't think it shows up in the latest activity colmn on the big board. That limits who sees it. We'll just have to live and learn as we go on it. I sort of wanted this to be a place to look for how to, but how do I might get someone to go to a little trouble. A good administrator can let a question get answered, then delete the original question, leaving the how to, which keeps things unclutered. I don't want to compete with the big board, just have a one stop shop for well detailed how to's.
