Hi Bruce, just had to comment again on what an incredible creature "Mr Big" is (gorgeous coloration and size proportions) and I know he must have put up a memorable fight for you!!
Yeah, new and improved, but it was a struggle! Had that photo layin on its side but I finally got it righted. Any way, I figured if its a bluegill website, then I might as well have a gill in the profile.
Thanks for the welcome Bruce,I'm headed out for some big crappie today but,I'm anxiously waiting a couple more weeks to try for my favorites, big humphead Bluegills.
like the page an the site ....you fish in nebraska ...lot of good places there have you ever been to south dakota ..my reservation is north of chapel..but anyways ...nice to meet you
also if you are from neb. i travel from neb.city to oglala during the summer to get to pine ridge ...if yo uknow any good pond i would be glad for the info
I'll probably have to delay setting up the site for wood carvers for a bit. My wife passed away in 2001 and left a doll collection which I have begun to list on Ebay. If I have any luck with the first one, I'll try some more. About 20 are still in their original boxes. Also trying to sell a tiller and a table saw (local pickup).
My son, Pat, and I are getting bluegill fever and readying the rods, etc.. I'm also preparing for the Colorado float trip!
My wife and I love to chase GILLS!
I will have some photos posted in my profile soon.
If you are interested check out our you-tube page and see some of the great bluegill fishing we had in Nebraska this winter!! Here is the direct link to my favorite video from this years icefishing

Thanks, I like this website! About 5 years ago my budy had a mice problem, so I started to pop them off with a old BB gun. Every shot was a hit so he jokeingly called me True Shot and it stuck lol. But every one just calls me Rudy.
hey Bruce, i recently was at bass pro and i picked up a 161 piece tripple ripple kit with jig heads and spinnners and remember you mentioning them in many posts. can i have some insite on how your fishing them. it would be greatly appreciated. comment back thank you!
Hi Bruce,
Just wanted to say what a very cool site. I've seen many nice gills in my days being a fish taxidermist for over 25 years and some of the gill pics you have posted have truley amazed me. Good Fishing!!!!
Thanks for the welcome, this site looks great. I'm a lifetime Walleye fisherman, but the last couple of years my 13 yr old son has me "hooked" on Bluegills and Crappie. It's the only way I can get him in the boat, so if that's what it takes, so be it. He's not a big fan of catch and release and he loves to eat 'Gills. Who am I to argue?
hi bruce, got the money i see, next 2 boxes should arrive this week
whats the tally in kitty so far?
this contest is countrywide/nationwide? how do the kids get signed up?
online or by mail?
do the kids get sent a prize once they sign up or only if they win a category? i will probably be bringing more gear in early may on way thru!
is it time to start a discussion on the forum to keep the function in the minds of member(maybe you can post a list of what else we can give for prizes ) 600 plus heads are better than 2
Fishing season is here once more and the pond is high on water after all these rains. The bass should really grow now that I have lost over 35 large cat fish. I am preparing for a fish fry later this month. These Odd Fellows want a fish fry.
Hey thanks, You got a really cool forum going here. Its got a Facebook feel to it. Maybe it will turn you into a Billionaire like that kid that started Facebook.
i'm not into basketball, much rather be fishing or at the races!
but what are we to do with this weather, it really sucks.
i'll be headed your way in a little over 3 weeks, gonna put your address in the ole navigation setting and head out. i'll be in the driveway when you get off work. poles and camera in hand!!!!
HEY BRUCE! ITS FLOODIN IN MOBILE! haha I havnt been fishin in 2 weeks now. I go to the launch evaray day just to stare. The ramps are gone and the parking lot is slap full of water. I know a few guys that are running hoop nets now and just killin the catfish.
I had a suggestion for the site. How about fixin us up away to search threw the members by location. Like a within such n such miles of what ever area code you put in the ole sercharthingamajiger. ( I should get a copyrite on that word) Ive found a couple of folks on here that are just a stone throw away. I wonder how many more there are.
Thanks Bruce...I've been looking for a site such as this for my favorite fish bluegill. Hope to share my experiences and gain some quality info from other members...
congrats on the feature in the new in fisherman! this site has blown up lately. when i first started visiting it there was less than one hundred members, look at how far it has come.
Bruce
Once again thanks for such a great site you would not believe the amount of time I spend here. Not to mention I have bought a fly rod outfit. My dad gave me his bamboo flyrod and I bought two spinning rods. in the past two weeks. If it would just warm up so the gills would come in towards shore
I left a comment on a photo, i would like to ask if your fish reaches 10 inches in 3 years "sometimes" do they tend to live shorter than say a lake fish thats 7 years old and is over 10 or will they reach the same ages just getting huge or pretty much being stunted at 10 inches?
Mountain man
Thanks for the welcome. I am looking forward to the Bluegill "chatter".
Just a quick add on to Dougs comment below. I learned of this web sight from the InFishermans right up. I am glad to find other Bluegill lovers.
Bruce! The more crappie photos I see the more I see that I am blessed with huge crappies! Who woulda ever thought that this site has actually led me to being in the standing with trophey crapie anglers. Though BLUEGILL is still my passsion I wanna join another site that I can broadin my horizens! Can you recomend me a crappie site that is half as good as this one? Bigbluegill #1 but braggin rites is a whole nother discusion!
Hey Bruce...I just bought a plane ticket to Phoenix and you make the calls and we'll set it up. Tell Aaron that I like decalf coffee but will need plenty of power drinks like Vault to keep me going all day on his ponds. I have several photo cards and plan on filling them up. I like my gills deep fried and I some times snore. Maybe...some day!
Thats cool, I haven't taken a day off of work in 5 years and I never call in sick, now that we are slow its a good time for a get away. Ill be online so just yell i will be around.
Bruce
Have you already seen this picture? There was a nice artical that went with it. If you have not seen it let me know and I will get my daughter to search my computer and find it. Itwas caught on a long pole
Hey Bruce, where would you recommend Jim (or anyone) go to find an award winning Taxidermist who specializes in truly "Giant" Monster fish (replica sizes which are generally off the beaten path of most Taxidermists and Mounting Specialty Shops)???
I thought I was the only grown up hooked on bluegill--wrong! This is really a cool site. I will definetly get some pics on. The last two times out, I said I would. My spring lake fish aren't always monsters, but I never get tired of looking at them. Thank you for the welcome, and I appreciate this site. Lance
Thanks, Bruce! I stumbled across the site while searching for bluegill fishing tips (I love fishing for bluegill, but I'm not a very good fisherman.) The comments that I've read so far have all been great.
Good Fishing,
Fr. Joe
